If you are fan of the whole Rod Stewart type of standard covers, then you will be pleased to here there are others out there doing it and doing it a lot better. Steve Tyrell for example. I don't actually remember what type of music was his claim to fame, but needless to say he is very suited to this type of music. He has put out quite a number of albums filled with lush renditions of many wonderful classics and this one is no exception. Through the years, Disney has produced some of the most beautiful and memorable pieces of music and on this album they take center stage! Mr. Tyrell covers the Disney classics "When You Wish Upon a Star" and "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" which have been done a thousand times. Unique to the album, however, are the best tunes. My favorite is "Baby Mine" which also happens to be the oldest tune, which is from the film Dumbo... This soft melody is so touching and is sung just so simply, not over produced... quite beautiful. I also love "Bella Notte" the song from Lady and Tramp whenever the two dogs are eating the spaghetti. I almost forgot how beautiful this song is. Steve also has some fun with renditions of "Cruella De Vil" from 101 Dalmations and "Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid. Although the songs I've mentioned are my favorite, every one of the tunes on the album is noteworthy, but I'll let you discover your own favorite... It was released in Febuary '06, so you should be able to get it in any record store. Pick it up!
